What should I wear / bring to class?
Wear comfy clothes that you don’t mind getting messy and closed off shoes.
Bring a towel and/or apron.
If you have long hair, bring a hair tie.Trim your nails if possible.
I can’t make it to a booked class, what should I do?
If you know in advance you won’t attend an intro class, we are happy to reschedule you to a more suitable date, as long as you notify us at least one week before your booked class.
If you miss a term class, we will offer one make-up class on a 4 week term, simply email us hello@kilnfolk.au and we will arrange the make-up class. Please keep in mind that is a first come, first serve option and we have limited availability, so please let us know asap.
Parking & Commuting
There is plenty of 2P paid parking on Bridge Road, and plenty of free 2P parking on the near streets - Lennox St, Waltham St. Free parking on Bridge Road after 6:30pm on Weekdays, and 4pm on Saturdays.
There is free 2h parking at Coles on Richmond Traders, which is a 5 min walk away.
Tram - 48 and 75 tram lines stop across the road from the studio.
Train - West Richmond Station 5-8 min walk or Richmond Station 15 min walk.
What is included in the open studio sessions?
You will have access to a spot on the wheel and the use of other equipment available in the studio - slab roller, clay extruder, shelves.
2 kg of recycled clay (or white stoneware clay if recycled isn’t available).
Use of the tools available in the studio.
You are welcome to BYO clay - as long as it’s a stoneware claybody that fires to 1280C - and your own tools/bat system, etc.
You will be responsible for cleaning up the equipment, tools and space you have used. Properly disposing of water and clay will be required as per studio’s instructions.
What is the minimum age to attend the classes?
The minumum age is 16 years old.
Kids under 16 years of age will not be allowed to attend the classes, unless a class especifically for kids has been previously arranged.
How long will it take for my pieces to be ready
If you have attended an intro class, your pieces will be ready for pick up within 3-5 weeks. You will be emailed once pieces are ready.
If you have attended a term class, your piece should be ready within 2-3 weeks and you will be emailed once the pieces are ready.
How can I get my pieces fired?
We offer firing services for any pieces made of stoneware high fire (1280C) temperature.
$12/k for bisque firing and $20/k glaze firing.
Please fill in the form before heading over to the studio to drop your pieces off.
Upfront payment is required.
